Geographic regions of different propolis 

A type BRP appears in Southeastern regions, including Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. The type BRG appears in the South of Brazil, such as Parana, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Flavonoids are higher in concentration for the latter case, as that region’s climate is similar to Europe’s mild zones, thus they have very similar vegetable sources to those in Europe. 

When type BRP’s vegatable source is coming to an end, a new source of resins begin to appear – to which the bees mix with that of “field rosemary’s” – thus producing type BRPG, a mixture of types BRP and BRG.
